There are tons of great programs online for kids to practice grammar in a competitive and fun way. I will write about some of my favorite tech-tool games in a future post, but today I wanted to discuss a low-budget, easy game: Tic-Tac-Toe!
We all know worksheets are boring and evil, but sometimes rote practice is necessary. So how to be make the boring practice better? Turn it into a game! Here’s an example: instead of passing out a fill-in-the-blank worksheet, create it in the form of a tic-tac-toe board and have kids compete against each other. This is a sample for ser vs. estar:
Place the game board in a plastic sheet and give students 2 different colored dry erase markers. Students fill in the game board to try and get three in a row. Grammar can be much more fun to practice if there is an element of competition! But how do you know if they are getting the answer right? I supply the answer key on the back so they can check their work. This also provides them with a way to ask questions and learn from their mistakes by talking with their partner.
This easy tool can work with any subject area. Need to practice basic math facts? What about science symbols? If you’re looking for more Spanish practice, I have some items for sale below. Have fun!

I want to say THANK YOU for your blog posts. I followed a link from your contributed post in Quizlet regarding ‘Around the World’ and discovered many more great ideas that will be well received by my English language learners, even though they are adults.
